Lizzie is headed home

Sweet Lizzie’s custom mosaic pet portrait is finished and ready to go to her mom and dad.  I hope Lizzie likes it.  Her mom said she does.  Baxter, my Lhasa apso gave it high praise.  He kept barking at it thinking it was a strange dog in the house.  Thanks for the vote of confidence Baxter!  If you want a custom pet portrait of your pet, click This link.

Happy Serendipity

I love this combination of the flowers on the slate plaque and the dahlias in my pot.  I could pretend like I did that on purpose but I didn’t. Unless it was my subconscious mind!  I usually don’t keep much of my work, I enjoy it before it moves onto it’s new home.  This piece was my test piece though to see how the slate and silicone would hold up through the winter and the weather.  So far so good.  If you would like a slate plaque to hang in your garden click Here.  I love seeing this little vignette that sits underneath my bird feeder.  From the breakfast room table, I can see the birds and the flowers while drinking my coffee every morning.  Life is Good!

Lizzie is in the House!

Lizzie’s custom pet portrait is in process.  Once I get close to finished with a portrait, the sweet puppy or cat moves to my kitchen counter where I study it for a day or two.  What am I looking for?  Is there anything that bugs me when I look at it next to the photo, do I see something that I want to change?  In Lizzie’s case, I think she needs a little brown piece at the bottom of her white beard on the left and I am going to layer in a little bit of black glass in some of the lighter areas on her ears.  I think it needs a little more shadow.  Once I make those changes, I will send a photo to her mom and dad so they can see if they see anything that needs to be changed.  The pink glass is there because I am trying to decide which one will work best as her background.  Any suggestions from you guys?  I will be back in the next couple of days with the finished portrait so you can see what she looks like in all her glory!   If you are interested in a mosaic pet portrait of your fur baby, click Here.

For the Love of a Tree

This stained glass mosaic tree window has found it’s new home.  I love seeing photos of my work in their new home.  This one is now in my customer’s home in Southern Pines, NC.  Creating mosaics is my passion but the real joy comes when my piece finds it’s new owner and I get to see the joy on their face.  That is the greatest compliment that an artist can receive.
